ASSOCIATE BOARD

The CASA-NYC Associate Board is a group of young professionals in their 20's and 30's who devote their time and resources to raise awareness about issues facing children in foster care and to raise support for CASA-NYC. Becoming a member is a unique opportunity to support an organization serving the most vulnerable children, while furthering your professional, leadership and personal goals.

Mission

Court Appointed Special Advocates of New York City (CASA-NYC) is a volunteer-based organization whose primary mission is to help NYC’s foster children thrive while in placement, and to facilitate transition out of care and into safe, permanent, and loving homes. CASA-NYC is one of the oldest and largest of nearly 1,000 CASA programs in the United States, and is a member in good standing of the National CASA Association.

Board Composition and Terms

Associate Board members make an initial contribution of $250 to CASA-NYC, and serve a one-year term. Members demonstrating high engagement and strong performance are invited to serve subsequent terms. The Associate Board meets approximately once a month at the start of the term, though sub-committees generally meet on a more frequent basis as outlined by the respective chair. The Associate Board’s meeting frequency reduces to bi-monthly after the first few months.
