Because every child

THE CHILDREN WE SERVECASA-NYC is devoted to the children we serve. Many of the children who enter New York City’s foster care system do so as a result of emotional or physical abuse stemming from a wide range of circumstances, such as substance abuse, poverty, mental illness, or domestic violence. These stressors may contribute to an overwhelming sense of instability, a condition which can be further compounded by the difficult-to-navigate NYC foster care system. Children often find that the details of their lives are being determined by family members or caregivers they aren’t familiar or comfortable with, or inaccessible professionals. CASA works diligently to provide individualized attention to each child, directly helping navigate an experience that could otherwise be traumatic, unpredictable, frightening and isolating. There are over 14,000 foster children in New York City.
