In 2007, CASA made more than 2,000 court appearances.
CASA accepts cases involving children, ranging in age from newborn to 21, who have been placed in foster care as a result of abuse and neglect stemming from domestic violence, substance abuse or mental illness. CASA also accepts assignments on the following Child Protective and Foster Care cases:
- Adolescent and aging out issues
- Special medical needs and disability issues
- Educational needs
- Other short-term assignments as needed to move the children through the foster care system towards permanency as quickly as possible
